The St Andrews Castle course was a brand new addition to this famous golfing town for the 2008 season. Managed by the St Andrews Links Trust, the Castle course is on a cliff-top setting high above the southern end of St Andrews, at the other end of the town from the Old and New courses. The course has been designed by David McLay Kidd, who also created Bandon Dunes on the west coast of America.

This is a long course playing to up to 7,200 yards, and you should expect to take up to five hours for your round. This is in comparison to the four hours that is generally expected at most Scottish golf courses.

Each hole has a choice of 5 tees so there is interest and challenge for all levels of golfer. The greens can be tricky to navigate and there are also some challenging approaches. The par 3 17th is a particularly dramatic setting with a tee shot across a gully in the cliffs.

The course offers some truly superb views to the town of St Andrews.
